About Us

What is LARC?

"LARC stands for Lynnhurst Area Recreation Council.  We are the volunteer organization at Lynnhurst Community Center/Park that works to provide the organization, athletic equipment, and volunteer coaches for the athletic programs offered at our park.

LARC's goal is to provide input and guidance on what the community wants, in terms of program offerings, and to help manage the entire process from registration onward.  We work in conjunction with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff at Lynnhurst Community Center to ensure that the community needs are being met.

LARC is an all volunteer organization with a Board of Directors. We are always looking for new members with an interest in sports coordination, coaching communication, equipment management, and to serve as LARC board members.  We need and welcome new members to the board, so that we may continue to serve the Lynnhurst community to the fullest. Please consider sharing your talents in this way.

LARC is your Organization

How to get involved? Call the Park to see if there are some volunteering opportunities coming up. There are always things we could use some help on.  High School kids are often needing to complete service hours for their IB or NHS programs and we would love to have them serve them at their neighborhood Park!

Another great way to get involved is to attend a board meeting.  Meetings are held at Lynnhurst Community Center and last about an hour.

Please call the Park Director, John Dahl, at (612) 370-4849 for additional information on when the next board meeting is scheduled and/or any other questions you might have. Thank you in advance for your consideration to help.
